BOLD (Boys Outdoor Leadership Development) & GOLD (Girls Outdoor Leadership Development) inspires courage and confidence in diverse groups of adolescent girls and boys through outdoor adventures.

At our numerous locations across the country, we operate backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and canoeing expeditions for teens of all backgrounds. These expeditions may also include a focus on yoga, art, music, and cooking. Our programs range in length from single-day adventures to multi-week wilderness expeditions and are for youth ages 11-17.

As a YMCA program, we work within our communities to identify and recruit youth who are representative of the demographics of each area. A single BOLD or GOLD group can be a mosaic of amazing kids with diversity of viewpoints, backgrounds, and life experiences. This intentional mix of participants creates opportunities for students from different backgrounds to experience shared, challenging outdoor activities while building leadership skills and self-confidence.

We believe that courage, community-awareness, confidence, emotional intelligence, and a sense of wonder are the foundations of 21st century leadership, and our programs use the wilderness as a classroom to teach these skills. Find out more at www.yboldgold.org
