How AORE works for you

The Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education is the premier association in the outdoor profession. Our mission is to give professionals and students in the outdoor recreation and education field opportunities to exchange information, promote the preservation and conservation of the natural environment, and address issues common to college, university, community, military, and other not-for-profit outdoor recreation and education programs.

AORE is a volunteer-driven national organization. Together, we identify, engage, and embrace leaders who possess the skills and expertise to move us onward. As an organization, we create opportunities for people to build high-level skills in service to AORE, to develop and practice hands-on leadership and decision-making, to coach and teach others, and to assume responsibility for building and maintaining AORE’s integrity.

Structure

AORE is a grassroots, non-bureaucratic organization. Its Board of Directors develops a strategic plan that aims to help members advance themselves and their programs—and that addresses members’ current and future needs.

Board of Directors

Members of the AORE Board of Directors (BOD) serve as volunteers and are elected by members. They are practitioners, academics, and supporters who have a vested interest in protecting and advancing the profession of outdoor recreation and education.
