We need you and we need your ability to connect the needs we have moving strategically forward with the community of friends, family, colleagues who also are at this tipping point of leaning into service.

What do I mean by service to the AORE?

I think Martin Luther King Jr. said it well when he said, “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

AORE has been surrounded by individuals full of grace, full of love, full of generosity for as long as we have been around. Even before we officially became an association, the service that each and every person put into the promotion of outdoor education and recreation was immense. We have identified ways to increase membership engagement and create powerful volunteer experiences that advance the mission and those individuals who lead.

We are at a crossroads. As we have been growing, our association needs the diversity of our community to come forward and share their talents. We need new Board of Directors who have a background in accounting, who are ex-military (or currently serving), who are fundraisers, and who are from underrepresented populations. We need engaged standing committee members who want to further AORE and their leadership. We need each and every one of you who has a passion for the outdoors, for education, who aligns with our mission to step up to the plate and consider ways to serve. Reach out to a friend who as these skills and ask them if they are ready to serve as well.
