It difficult to operate their businesses (especially small businesses). The NPS is going to lead a conversation
with USFS/BLM around insurance requirements in partnership with OAWG. Finally, we set a deadline for
this work to be completed by Oct. 1, 2015 so that the agencies can attend/report at the Wilderness Risk
Management Conference in Portland, Oregon.
3. Permit Availability and Information: We addressed the need to have a full survey of current permits and current
capacity on public lands. Paul Sanford from TWS has drafted the survey and it will be completed by all
agencies. In addition, we will be building a small Think Tank through the summer to focus on elevating the
importance of recreation within the agencies and highlighting best practices, alternative approaches to
permitting (to speed up the process) and potentially develop web based tools for both outdoor program
