The evening of October 26, 2018 marked the closing ceremonies of the conference and the Awards Banquet where AORE and WEA awarded the excellence in leadership among their members in the past year. Among those celebrated and received top honors were:
WEA Student Leader Award: Mr. Quinn Linford from Texas A&M University
WEA Japan Student Award: Mr. Ye Jing-Wei
WEA Certified Outdoor Educator Award: Dr. Andrew Bobilya from Western Carolina University
WEA Japan Outstanding Wilderness Educator Award: Dr. Kelli McMahan
Frank Lupton Service Award: Dr. Will Hobbs from Georgia College
Paul K. Petzoldt Leadership Award: Ms. Laura McGladrey
