Brewer's Ledge, Inc. was founded by two cousins, Jeff Brewer and Conant Brewer, in 1990,
making it “one of the oldest climbing US companies.”1 In the ensuing years, their creative
climbing structures for schools, training facilities, rehabilitation, and playgrounds has spread
from Boston, Massachusetts, to twenty-eight countries and five militaries.
With their innovations, the Brewers “single-handedly opened up climbing as a mainstream fitness tool.”2 Starting in 1989, they
invented and constructed the first rotating climbing wall, which has always been from day one, motor less and self-pacing. They
began offering the Treadwall® commercially in 1990 with the start of their company.
Since 1996, Landmark Learning has worked to provide affordable certification training opportunities at the
highest standards in the outdoor industry. Now, as a nationally-accredited school of higher education (ACCET.org,
CHEA.org), Landmark students have access to multiple funding sources, college credit transfer options, and
cutting-edge research-based curricula.
Landmark has supported AORE and its membership through scholarship giving since the beginnings at ICORE. We
are proud to continue the tradition of donating a Leave No Trace Master Educator course through the scholarship
fund at The Landmark Foundation. Thanks to AORE and the Board for their continued gracious hosting at the
annual conference!
