you. The truth is that any tamer, breeder or player
needs genetics. Without it, it is difficult to get good
results… because genetics are unbeatable.”
SB: “What does it mean to you to see your
children grow?”
Mónica: “I think that their passion for horses
is something we’ve passed on to them. And
fortunately the four of them love it, although
Esmeralda doesn’t play Polo. At first neither of
us thought about polo, but they started to play
the Potrillitos tournaments and went from there.
I remember a year in which we played the final
of the Iniciación, and we have a photo of all the
family with the 12 mares that we took and were
able to play. What moves me most is when we see
the truck being loaded to start the season off. And
when that happens I go up to it and clap them off
with a feeling of emotion.”
Polito: “To me what was always most important is
that we showed them a culture; the world of horses;
a healthy life-style; they learned to work and have
become that kind of polo-players. It’s not like today
where I think polo-players are sportsmen, which is
neither good nor bad, but in the case of my children,
they learned the nice part about breeding; how to
school a horse and all of that as a greater concept,
not only the angle of the player who goes to the polo
field to play. The values that one may pursue on a
farm such as hard work and patience are important
in any profession. And for us to have been able to
help them is and will continue to be a pleasure.”
