travel tips
alcohol
legal drinking age
on royal caribbean international® cruises,
the default minimum age for purchasing
and consuming alcohol is 21 years old.
however, for sailings departing from
european ports, the minimum age is 18.
bringing alcohol onboard
When you first board the ship, it’s fine to
bring your own alcohol onboard, but this
is limited to two 75cl bottles of wine or
champagne per stateroom (not per guest).
note that you carry unauthorised alcohol
at your own risk — if it gets confiscated,
you won’t get it back. you can consume
your own alcohol in your stateroom free
of charge, but if you want to drink it
elsewhere — say, in a restaurant or lounge
— there’s a $25 corkage fee. if you buy
alcohol while visiting a port, you won’t be
able to consume these onboard, but
they’ll be stored by the ship and delivered
to your stateroom on your last day.
smoking policy
smoking is only allowed in specially
designated areas, and never in your
stateroom or on your balcony. there’s
a substantial fine if you break this rule,
so if you smoke, it’s worth familiarising
yourself with the smoking areas once
you board. signs to these zones are
posted around the ship, but if you have
trouble finding them just consult your
cruise compass or go to guest services,
who will be able to point you in the
right direction. you must be at least
18 years old to use, have or purchase
tobacco onboard, and remember always
dispose of your smoking products
responsibly — never throw them
overboard.
