Creating the roboshow℠
virtual concert
when royal caribbean decided they
wanted to put robots on their ships, they
knew they’d be pushing the very
boundaries of science and technology.
working together with abb robotics,
they developed one of the most complex
robotics projects on the planet.
it sounds like a live concert — it just
doesn’t look like one. top musicians
and bands are beamed onto all six
roboscreens® to create a multi-sensory
musical experience. the screens are
mesmerising to watch and no matter
where you are in the room, you’ll always
get a great view of the band.
created by andy ‘robot’ flessan, the
roboscreens® are connected to robotic
arms and attached to a moveable gantry
hidden in the ceiling. the roboscreens®
descend and are programmed to soar
and twist solo, plus join together to form
one large screen. the addition of live
performers to interact with the
roboscreens® creates a fully 3d dynamic
experience. royal caribbean is truly
leading the way when it comes to
entertainment.
