Unlock Clues to
Your Cycle
By Dr. Kerri Fullerton, ND & Dr. Whitney Young, ND

PMS.
the seeds of today.
With the longer days and warmer weather of Spring, it’s
time for renewal, new life and the birds and the bees! It’s a
great time to either figure out why you have PMS or start
trying for that baby.
PMS is not normal but it is quite common. According
to Traditional Chinese Medicine, your flow should come
without starts and stops, you should have no pain, and
no breast tenderness. This is shocking to most people because symptoms like these are very common.
Tracking your cycle is important for those trying to conceive as well as those suffering from PMS. There are many
downloadable phone apps you can use but tracking with
pen and paper on a “basal body temperature chart” can
also be very helpful to uncovering the clues.
There are many things you can track on this chart such
as first morning temperature, discharge, bloating, mood
changes, food cravings, cramps and more. If you experience any one of these symptoms, it can provide insight
into your hormones and let you know which ones need
balancing.
s
While these charts can provide a lot of information, they
can be frustrating for some women. If your charts don’t
look like the ones on the websites, don’t worry. How
your chart is different from the ideal chart gives your ND
or health care practitioner valuable information about
what’s happening with your hormones. So this spring,
why don’t you try to unlock those clues to your cycle to
achieve hormonal balance.

75-100 years ago, we would be having much healthier
babies. At this time, couples who were preparing to get
married and have children were offered the healthiest
food the community could provide such as raw milk, raw
butter, fresh eggs, animal organ meat, fish and fish eggs.
All of these foods are considered “nutrient-dense” as they
are high in Vitamin A, D, K2, protein and iron which are
vital for healthy babies. Today, pregnant or breastfeeding
women need to supplement and work these foods into
their diet. I recommend supplementing with a high-potency prenatal multiple vitamin and mineral, a fish oil

can also provide many nutritional benefits. It is best to
work with a nutritionist, naturopath and/or health food
store team member to receive support on this path.
