This includes a number of commercial development projects that were initiated in the Town Centre (Callahan’s Development) and on Oceola Road along Highway 97 (Turtle Bay Crossing). From an infrastructure perspective, the District was able to complete many capital projects relative to roads, water, sewer, parks and other infrastructure. The rate of growth is forcing the District to increase the number of projects to be completed each year, which makes the planning of our capital works even more important. Details of all completed projects can be found within this report and detailed information can be obtained from our staff. For the first time in many years, the District also completed a Community Survey. 1,500 households were surveyed and ninety-seven percent (97%) of respondents were satisfied with their quality of life in Lake Country, and sixty-five percent (65%) were either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the municipal services they receive for the taxes they pay. Lake Country is widely recognized as a leader in local government in many fields. The diversity of its Ward system and population is creating growth and opportunities for the District to provide unique services and to foster a quality of living unparalleled both in the Central Okanagan Region and Province wide. At this time, I wish to take the opportunity to thank Council, staff and the community for supporting our many initiatives that make Lake Country a desirable place to live. There are many accomplishments we are proud to report to the community which are included in this report. I invite you all to take the time to read this document and to provide us with feedback and ideas to make this document better and, more importantly, to make our community a great place to live, work and play.
