Management’s Responsibility for Financial Reporting
In accordance with Section 167 of the Community Charter, I am pleased to present the 2015 Annual
Financial Statements of the District of Lake Country for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2015. These
statements include the Independent Auditors’ Report, the financial statements and the notes and
schedules to the financial statements for the District of Lake Country.
The financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2015 were prepared by the District in
accordance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards. The integrity and objectivity of these
statements are management’s responsibility. Management is also responsible for implementing and
maintaining a system of internal controls to safeguard the District’s assets and to provide reasonable
assurance that reliable and consistent financial information is provided.
Council is responsible for ensuring management fulfills its responsibility for financial reporting and
internal control.
The auditors, Grant Thornton LLP, conduct an independent examination, in accordance with Canadian
generally accepted auditing standards, and express their opinion regarding the financial statements. The
audit was planned and performed to obtain reasonable assurance as to whether the financial
statements are free from material error or misstatement.
The District strives to ensure that services are effectively and efficiently delivered to meet Council’s and
the community’s goals and vision. The District is committed to providing sound financial management
and long-term strategic planning to achieve these objectives.
