Royal Canadian Mounted Police 2015 Achievements The following are continuing priorities for the District of Lake Country Detachment: Organized Crime Steps were taken to reduce violent crime by focusing efforts on the right organized crime persons with the highest risk for violence and public safety. The results were an increase in charge files against identified organized crime persons by 5% and a decrease in violent crime by 5%. Vulnerable Persons Through partnerships the police make with the community: 1) To reduce repeat victimization in domestic violence situations through the use of the ICAT model; and 2) To focus on persons with mental health issues and ensure that work is done with the community to get them the help they require. Domestic Violence Unit composed of a Corporal and a Constable K Court – dedicated courtroom for domestic files Decrease of 2 files in last quarter – domestic dispute vs. spousal assault. Crime Reduction To reduce property crime by focusing on the right chronic and/or prolific offenders: 1) Increase charge files for identified prolific and chronic offenders by 5% 2) Decrease in property crime by 5%. Results:  One individual under curfew or house arrest conditions  Three individuals under reporting conditions  Five individuals charged with breaching their conditions  Property crime up 63% from Q3 of 2014 (mischief to theft from vehicles)  Property crime up 37% from first three quarters of 2014. Traffic Safety Traffic enforcement and motor vehicle-related issues remain a high priority for Lake Country with the goal of reducing the number of motor vehicle accidents and fatalities associated with alcohol. Results:  Total of 38 collisions in Q3 (31 non-injury; 7 injury)  Collisions up 29% from the first three quarters of 2014 (145 from 112)  11 individuals issued 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (Fail or Refuse)  6% increase from first three quarters of 2014  14 individuals issued 24 hour driving prohibitions for drugs or alcohol  6 individuals charged with driving while prohibited. 2015 Annual Report 37 | P a g e
