Annual Report Tucson J 2018 | Página 14

DEVELOPMENT CAITLIN DIXON | DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY The Philanthropy Department at The J had a great 2018 with high expectations! The community support was strong, helping us to end the year just under our annual development goal. Our 2018 goal was aggressive and has allowed us to lay the framework for what we believe will be a very successful 2019.We incorporated exciting new funding initiatives that proved to be successful additions to our fundraising efforts. As leaders in the community for Early Childhood Education, Special Needs Programming, and Youth Programming, it is essential we have the funds available to scholarship as many families as possible, families who otherwise would not be able to afford access to The J. In 2018, we were able to award over $790,000 in scholarships. This number has significantly risen from 2015 when we were awarding $400,000 in scholarships. The needs of our community continue to increase, and thankfully, so has the support and donations to our J. These dollars were raised through a combination of individual gifts, corporate gifts, and grant funding. These generous donations help create wonderful memories and opportunities for so many families, invaluable memories that they will remember for years to come. We had our First Annual Top Golf Fundraising Event. A fun lighthearted event including 3 hours of golf, delicious food and drink, and a silent auction full of amazing items. This event earned over $20,000 in net profit in its inaugural year. Another noteworthy addition to The J this year was becoming an approved Tax Credit Creditable Gift Organization. We received the qualification just two weeks before the 2018 year ended, and were able to raise over $10,000 in this timeframe. We are excited to see the advancements this campaign makes in 2019! Thank you to all of our generous supporters, donors, board members, and members, we could not do it without you!
