Table 21 reveals that in the 2012-2013 Law Term there was a decline in the total
number of Decree Nisi Orders. There were one thousand, nine hundred and
fifty-eight (1958) orders granted in the period under review. This was a decrease
of 3% or sixty (60) orders when compared to the previous year (2011-2012).
Of the decree Nisi Orders granted, Port of Spain accounted for 92% with one
thousand, eight hundred orders granted (1800), followed by San Fernando
with 6% or one hundred and twenty seven (127) orders and Tobago with 2% or
thirty-one (31) orders granted.
a decrease by one hundred and forty (140) or 5.6% over the preceding year.
Overall there was a decrease in Decree Absolute Orders granted in all areas.
Port of Spain showed a decrease of 1.1% with one thousand, nine hundred and
ninety-eight (1998), San Fernando 27% with two hundred and ninety-one (291)
and Tobago 22% with thirty-two (32).
It should be noted that Decree Nisi Orders granted in Port of Spain and San
Fernando went down by 1.5% from one thousand, eight hundred and twentyeight (1828) (2011-2012) to one thousand, eight hundred (1800) (2012-2013) and
20%, from one hundred and fifty-nine (159)(2011-2012) to one hundred and
twenty-seven (127) respectively.
The table above also indicates that two thousand, three hundred and twenty-one
(2321) Decree Absolute Orders were granted in 2012-2013. The figure represents
