This determined figure comprises four thousand, nine hundred and twenty-two
(4922) CPR matters (trial and non-trial) as well as three hundred and eight (308) RSC
matters determined by the permanent High Court Judges. There were fifteen (15)
RSC matters which were determined by one (1) temporary Judge.

Table 9a illustrates that the fact there were five thousand, two hundred and thirty
(5230) new Civil Matters filed and five thousand, two hundred and forty-five (5245)
Civil Matters determined for 2012-2013 law term.

Table 9b illustrates the number of temporary Judge(s) assigned to the backlog
exercise as well as the number of matters determined by the Judge(s). One (1) Judge
was assigned to backlog matters for the current Law Term 2012-2013, during that
period fifteen (15) matters were determined. Of those matters determined, ten (10)
matters were for Port of Spain and five (5) matters for San Fernando. No matters
were determined for Tobago.
Table 10 shows the total number of CPR trial matters determined by the respective
periods in which they were filed. There were one thousand, three hundred and
thirty-three (1333) matters or 30% determined within one (1) year of filing, one
thousand, three hundred and fifty-three matters (1353) or 30% determined between
one (1) and two (2) years of filing and one thousand, seven hundred and seventy-one
(1771) matters or 40% taking more two (2) years to be determined.
This meant that there were two thousand, six hundred and eighty-six (2686) matters
or 60% being determined within two (2) years.
