Development Programme
Approximately 20.6% of the annual allocation, amounting to
$90,775,000 was allocated for capital expenditure.
This
represents a decrease of $14,921,000 from the available allocation for 2011/2012. The allocation for this year was utilised to
advance the following strategic projects:
• Expansion of the video conference solution to additional court
locations to allow remote access to court hearings by various
parties and improve accessibility, security and reduction of delays
in the court process.
•Continued improvement works at the Supreme Courts, Port of
Spain, San Fernando and Scarborough, and Magistrates’ Courts,
Port Fortin and Scarborough, with the focus on the comfort and

ease of use by both the Court’s employees and users of
the facilities.
•Promoting a culture of customer service and public
educatiopn on accessing the services offered by the
Judiciary.
•Developing the capacity to effectively record, store and
produce accurtate records of all Court proceedings.
• Infractuture and preparatory works associated with the
implementation of the Administration of Justice Act,
2011.
•Implement, monitor and evaluate Court -Annexed
Mediation as an alternative to the formal dispute resolution forum of the justice system.
•Provision of adequate and suitable accommodation for
Judicial Officers in Tobago.
•Provision of accommodation for the various support
services to the Court’s operations.

As at 30th June, 2013 the sum of $30,898,372 was
released to finance the capital projects being undertaken.
This represents approximately forty percent (40%) of the
allocation. Expenditure and Commitments as at 30th
September, 2013 accounted for approximately eighty five
percent (85%) of the sums released.
