A Message from GME Leadership Welcome to Mount Carmel Health System Graduate Medical Education. On behalf of the Program Directors, faculty, residents and staff, it is our pleasure to present to you our Annual Report. We at Mount Carmel are proud of our heritage and mission. For many decades, Mount Carmel Graduate Medical Education has been educating residents in a unique environment involving three different hospitals, each serving a distinct patient population. We currently have Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Surgery, and Transitional Year residencies as well as a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship. All are fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We also partner with The Ohio State University in an integrated Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency. This year was a great year for Medical Education at Mount Carmel and we are very proud of all of our accomplishments: • ACGME approval to start a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship • Relocation of the Internal Medicine Ambulatory Practice to a new outpatient center • Implementation of an outpatient Electronic Health Record • Opening of the new Clinical Skills and Simulation Center for simulation training • A 100% initial match rate in all of our Core Residency programs Mount Carmel has a rich history of Graduate Medical Education that dates back decades with a mission to serve those who are less fortunate than others. This spirit and mission are alive and well today as we educate the physicians of tomorrow and work toward: • Being the “preferred destination” for medical training in a community setting. • Being a “premier” community-based academic teaching center. • Competing on a national and local level for the “best and brightest” • Being a leader in Medical Education within CHE Trinity. • Being a “value-added” system-based enterprise within MCHS. As we like to say only “the few and the proud” are able and willing to train with us as we provide exceptional patient care in an exceptional educational experience.
