2013 THE 2013 BIG TOP SEASON WAS UNDERWRITTEN BY THE BAYFIELD INN FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR March 2013 Governor’s Tourism Award for Arts, Culture & Heritage Dear Friends of the Big Top, This year was a bountiful one, one filled with glorious music and moving performances under the big blue tent. It was also a year of unpredictable weather and “canvas malfunctions.” But all-in-all, 2013 will go down in the Big Top record books as the best year in our history--BEST in terms of brilliant performances and BEST in terms of financial strength. Here are some highlights by the numbers: August 17 - Joan Osborne • 52 shows in 47 days • 16 original shows with the BCO • 44 guest performance nights featuring 49 touring bands • 4 free family shows and 2 free workshops • 1 free student show for area schools • 27,000 patrons at the tent • 4,000 patrons on tour • 52 weeks of Tent Show Radio on 51 stations in 11 states • 1.1 million radio listeners and countless more via internet streaming June 22 - Jacob Roeber June 22 - Ladysmith Black Mambazo In 2013 we set the stage for making wonderful memories. Big Top is a magical place like nothing else out there. We would like to thank everyone who participated in making this a great year: first of all our Board of Directors who provided strong leadership and gave of their time and their treasure; second to the amazingly generous people that support Big Top through their donations, sponsorships and volunteer time; next to all of the talented and dedicated performers that enthrall us; and finally to the terrific Big Top team that runs the office, handles the performances and takes care of our patrons. We’d also like to make a heart-felt shout-out to our friends at Mt. Ashwabay who are our partners in this summer endeavor. SALUTE to all of these good people who together make magical nights under the canvas tent possible. Thank you for your participation! You are all part of this fabric that makes up Big Top Chautauqua.
