In FY 2015, Chaplaincy expanded training to 40 chaplains, who were provided training at the Chaplaincy Training Conference in March 2015. The conference included topics such as the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary program at Phillips State Prison, Faith and Character Based programs and numerous other internal departmental procedures and processes. In the months of February, March, April, and May, Chaplaincy Services conducted large group volunteer training sessions. A total of 545 volunteers were trained in these sessions. I Facility Hardening and Operational & Security Upgrades n February 2015, the Facilities Division began a significant restructuring and decentralizing of operations and began employing a regional concept that allowed for problem solving to take place locally, and provides support and resources closer to field units. Regionalizing operations returns the agency to a time tested, effective formula for the optimal management of over 60 facilities and 9,700 staff across the state of Georgia. Most importantly it decentralizes Business, Engineering, Human Resources, Training, Investigations and Audits, which offers Regional Directors the ability to strengthen and improve prison operations as they deem necessary. The decentralization of these resources allows for a faster response to assist field units. Scheduled Regional Office Opening Dates: Southeast Office - November 1, 2015 Southwest Office - January 27, 2016 North Office - Summer 2016 Contraband & Hardening Contraband and hardening of our facilities were both top priorities for the agency in FY 2015. To help combat the continual battle to keep contraband, especially cellphones, outside the walls of our prisons, the department invested significant resources to implement a variety of interdiction methods to include Cell Sense devices, infrared cameras, Through Body Scanners, Cell Phone Access Management Systems, perimeter netting, and Body Orifice Security Scanners (BOSS). In FY 2015, a total of 7,644 cell phones were confiscated from Georgia prisons. Report FY 2015 **Throw overs: contraband thrown over perimeter fencing at state facilities. 11
