October 2016 March 2017 June 2017 Elisabeth Buggins appointed Chair Elisabeth Buggins CBE DL took over the key role as Accord Chair at a very demanding time for the housing sector. Mrs. Buggins has over 40 years’ experience in health and care services. She has chaired Strategic Health Authorities, NHS Trusts, served as non-executive director or advisor in the private sector and charities and is currently chairing Eastern Academic Health Sciences Network. Click Start launch Accord joined forces with whg to lead on Black Country Click Start, a strand of Building Better Opportunities for the Black Country. Funded by the European Social Fund and Big Lottery, Click Start will see over £23 million of funding to offer support to over 10,000 people by 2020 and help them to build a positive future for themselves and their families. Building Better Opportunities for the Black Country was launched in front of an audience of funders, stakeholders and influencers at a strategic event held at Banks’s Stadium, Walsall on Wednesday 1 March. Official opening at Arden Grove Arden Grove, our brand new specialist housing with care complex for people with dementia in Coventry, was officially opened on Monday 3 July by the first customer to live within the facility and in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Coventry. Arden Grove is this is the first brand new care facility built by Accord in seven years. April 2017 #weareaccord After six months of hard work and superb colleague collaboration and teamwork, the Accord Group collapsed its federated structure of seven organisations - Caldmoreaccord, Heantun, Ashrammoseley, Fry Housing Trust, Direct Health, bchs and RCH - to become one Accord. November 2016 Sparkbrook sod-cutting Work began on an innovative £3.6million housing development in Sparkbrook, Birmingham. The 36 new apartments, located off Stratford Road, are being built by housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat, on behalf of Accord. The development will feature a mix of stylish one and two bedroom apartments for affordable rent. 10 Accord Housing Association January 2017 May 2017 SOAHP Homes build Matrix Housing Partnership was awarded one of the largest allocations of the Homes & Communities Agency’s £1.3 billion funding for housing associations, local authorities and developers in order to deliver new affordable housing. Led by Accord, the partnership will build 664 new homes in Birmingham, Redditch, the Black Country, Staffordshire, and Worcestershire. Work on the homes will start in 2018 and will be completed by 2021. Fair & Square We launched our Fair & Square Promises – a set of mutually fair and straightforward promises that will set out how we can work together with our customers. The promises are a fair and open way for us to work together, and we have worked closely with customers to develop them. July 2017 Accord named one of the Top 100 Accord was placed 11th in the annual 24Housing Magazine’s Top 50 Social Housing Landlords - testament to all our great people and their commitment to delivering homes and services. Work begin on Burton Dementia Centre of Excellence Burton Centre of Excellence will provide specialist accommodation in a domestic style environment for people with dementia, providing high quality care and support in an innovative, purpose built environment. It is being built on the site of the former Margaret Stanhope Centre in Outwoods, Burton at a cost of £6.4m with £945,000 of funding from the Homes & Communities Agency. Annual Report 2017 11
