2017 BEST PLACES TO WORK The City was recognized as a 2017 Best Places to Work in St . Lucie County from the St . Lucie County Human Resources Association and Personnel Dynamics Consulting .
GOLD LEVEL STATUS The Human Resources Department also received the Gold Level Status Award from the Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance and the American Lung Association ; and it received the 2017 Healthy Weight Community Champion from the Florida Department of Health .
TREE CITY USA GROWTH AWARD Port St . Lucie was recognized as a Tree City USA and received the Tree City USA Growth Award from the Arbor Day Foundation . These awards recognize the City ’ s commitment to keeping the City green and the importance of an urban tree canopy .
AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC PROCUREMENT The City ’ s Procurement Department received the Award for Excellence in Public Procurement for Florida government agencies from the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers ; and it received national accreditation by the National Institute of Government Purchasing . This reflects that the City ’ s procurement process is not only meeting best practices but is outstanding and a leader to other agencies .
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING The City ’ s Finance Department received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City ’ s October 1 , 2015 – September 30 , 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report ( fiscal year 2016 CAFR ) awarded by the Governmental Finance Officers Association .
FPRA COMMUNICATOR OF THE YEAR The Port St . Lucie Police Public Information Officer was named Communicator of the Year by the Florida Public Relations Association , Treasure Coast Chapter .
IACP / BODYWORN LEADERSHIP IN LAW ENFORCEMENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM AWARD Port St . Lucie Police Volunteer Program was the winner of the 2017 IACP / Bodyworn Leadership in Law Enforcement Volunteer Program Award , which highlights the outstanding work the volunteers provide to the community of Port St . Lucie as they assist the Police Department in accomplishing their mission .
COMMUNICATIONS AWARDS The City ’ s Communications Department received a Judge ’ s Award from the Florida
Public Relations Association , Treasure Coast Chapter , for an informative video about the Crosstown Parkway Extension . It also received a Bernay ’ s Award for Crisis Communication from the Gold Coast Public Relations Council and a Gold Award from the Hermes Creative Awards for Crisis Communications .
FPRA RISING LEADER AWARD The Project Coordinator-Utility Outreach , receives Florida Public Relations Association FPRA Rising Leader Award .
AWARDS FOR THE CITY ’ S FORUM ON RACE RELATIONS AND INCLUSION The City of Port St . Lucie received an Outstanding Achievement Large City 2017 Livability Award from the U . S . Conference of Mayors in support of Port St . Lucie Forum on Race Relations & Inclusion . The Forum also received an Honorable Mention for a special event from the Hermes Creative Awards , and a Sunshine District Award of Commendation from the Public Relations Society of America .
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD The City ’ s annual budget received the Governmental Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award .
FWPCO OUTSTANDING SAFETY RECORD James E . Anderson ( JEA ) Water Treatment Plant and staff recognized for outstanding safety record by the Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association ( FWPCOA ).
This State-wide award recognizes JEA for “ leadership , promotion , service , and performance through an outstanding safety program .”
2017 BRIGHT IDEAS IN GOVERNMENT The Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F . Kennedy School of Government , Harvard University , recognized the City of Port St . Lucie City University as part of the 2017 Bright Ideas in Government initiative .
PRESIDENT ’ S CIRCLE AWARD Keep Port St . Lucie Beautiful was honored by its national affiliate for its work in helping to make Port St . Lucie a clean , green and beautiful community . Keep America Beautiful presented Keep Port St . Lucie Beautiful with its President ’ s Circle Award recognition .
INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION The City ’ s Building Department received accreditation from the International Accreditation Service in late December 2016 . The Building Department was included in Noteworthy Practices of the IAS Best Practices Manual in November 2017 .
FLUORIDATION QUALITY AWARD The Prineville Water Treatment Facility and James E . Anderson Water Treatment Facility recognized for their “ consistent and professional adjustment of the fluoride content to the optimum level for oral health for 12 consistent months .” The award was presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .
