LOWEST CRIME
RATE AND
SAFEST CITY
In 2017, the City of Port St. Lucie was
recognized several times by multiple
agencies for being a “Safest City” and
having a low crime rate.
Port St. Lucie has the lowest crime rate
in Florida for cities with a population
of over 75,000 for the last 13 years
consecutively, according to the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement. For
the last seven years, Port St. Lucie has
had the lowest crime rate in Florida
for cities with a population of over
100,000. Currently, Port St. Lucie is
experiencing the lowest crime rate in
25 years.
The City experienced a 12.4 percent
increase in population between 2010
and 2016, with a population of 185,132
in 2016. Even with this population
increase, Port St. Lucie had an overall
crime reduction of 47 percent during
the past 5 years. Just this last year,
crime dropped in Port St. Lucie by one
percent.
