Provide volunteering , apprenticeship / opportunities for customers , their families and the local community members plus create more direct employment opportunities across the Group
The Group has committed support to a range of training and employment initiatives including the Working Together project across the Black Country , providing sport and activities for disadvantaged young people through ‘ Get on Track ’ programmes delivered with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and through direct work with customers for example the Jobs & Skills coaches . Support over the last 12 months includes training courses , apprenticeships , internships , work experience , volunteering , temporary jobs , permanent jobs , support into selfemployment .
Develop innovative approaches to reduce the impact of child poverty in neighbourhoods working directly with young people under the age of 16 and supporting local communities
Progress to date includes direct support by front-line teams and signposting to food banks or other services . The Holiday Kitchen programme continues to successfully work to improve families ’ well-being during school holidays to enable families to thrive throughout the year . The programme has been delivered across 23 community settings , supporting over 300 families .
Reduce office / commercial building costs and other associated overheads in order to invest in new services for customers
A review of buildings continues to reduce costs , provide improved working conditions and better access for customers . A detailed work plan has been underway to review all buildings to ensure best use . Where buildings are sold , the proceeds are reinvested into core services .
Implement the strategic stock investment and disposals process
Strategic disposals strategy considers high value stock , geographically dispersed units , difficult to let units and voids are reviewed as they arise for potential disposal / retention ( using Board agreed analysis ). Funding has been secured for a range of works across the stock
throughout 2015-16 and the ERDF project saw 421 homes receiving energy efficiency treatments .
