Where Legacies Begin
New Funds in 2015
Ten new funds and scholarships were created by families and local organizations who contributed more than $565,000 to insure that financial support continues for current community projects and long-term needs.
Robert L. Bales Memorial Scholarship Fund
The family and friends of Robert Bales, local businessman and civic supporter, established a scholarship to benefit a student attending a vocational program.
Blackford County Concerned Citizens Fund
This fund is for community outreach and eduction concerning cancer and auto-immune disease risks in Blackford County.
Blackford County Animal Shelter Facility Fund
This fund receives contributions for a facilities expansion project at the Animal Shelter.
Blackford County Youth Soccer League Fund
The Blackford Youth Soccer League established an endowment that will provide for upkeep and operations at the Blackford Youth Soccer League complex.
Christian Outdoor Ministry Experience (C.O.M.E.)
This youth outdoor sportsman group began a fund that will purchase land and buildings for a headquarters.
Helen and Howard McCollum Family Scholarship Fund
Mrs. McCollum created this scholarship endowment fund in memory of her husband to support one student each year who is already enrolled in a college course of study.
Montpelier American Legion Veterans Assistance Fund
Local Montpelier veterans extablished an endowment to provide a scholarship and/or emergency assistance to Montpelier area veterans beginning in 2020.
Schantz Endowment Fund
William and Patricia Schantz, local business owners and phlanthropists, created this fund to provide continuing support to many of their favorite charities well beyond their own lifetimes.
Shreves-Poulson Community Donor Advised Endowment Fund
This fund was established in memory of Jerry W. Shreves an Jerry J. Poulson in order to gift an annual dispersal to a Christian entity each year upon the advise of the donor.
Charles and Betty Walker Unrestricted Fund
This endowment fund was begun by Charles and Betty Walker to provide funding for various community projects and charitable purposes approved by the Foundation Board.
