Increasing the Response Rate, Demonstrating Transparency Besides using social media tools, we have found other ways to increase the response rate to our policy consultations and demonstrate transparency in our process. And it has paid off in a dramatic spike in the number of responses that we receive. Most notably, we are now able to send invitations to participate in consultations directly to the College members via our new consultations e-newsletter. This e-newsletter is used to advertise each open consultation. It is sent to all College members, as well as a range of other stakeholders. In addition, improvements were made to the look and format of the web pages developed for each policy consultation. In keeping with practices established in 2011, all stakeholder feedback continues to be posted online, making the consultation process more transparent. We continue to use online surveys as a way for consultation participants to provide feedback. This practice was initiated in 2011 but in mid-2013 we moved to make online surveys a standard component of every policy consultation. Experience indicates surveys provide a number of benefits: Our Future Leaders’ Day is a valuable opportunity to promote the importance of self-regulation to younger physicians. •  articipants find them easy to use and appear to prefer this P method of providing feedback, thereby increasing the overall response rate for consultations. •  ey enable us to ask questions about particular areas of the Th policy. •  ey are used to generate clear and comprehensive reports that Th can be made available publicly, increasing the transparency of the process.
