Peer Assessor
The majority of assessments directed by the Quality Assurance
Committee (QAC) are what have become known as “peer assessments,”
which are generally comprised of an onsite records review and an
interview with feedback to the physician.
The number of peer assessments is governed by resources (such as
assessor availability and program budget) and the current policies
of the Committee (i.e., that physicians under age 70 are assessed
once every 10 years; that physicians age 70 and over are assessed
every five years).
