Arizona California Colorado LMC Dental AEGD developed a second year position for matriculation on July 1, 2014 at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health in Mesa, AZ. The clinical curriculum offers a wide range of experience in multiple dental specialties. Dr. Maureen Romer, AEGD Assistant Program Director developed this program with emphasis on practice of comprehensive dentistry treating medically complex patients. In December, 2013, AEGD residents in LMC Dental’s California region participated in a workshop designed to enhance their AEGD residency experience under the direction of Dr. Huong Le, LMC Dental Director of Asian Health Services in California. The workshop, sponsored by BioHorizons and Sybron/Kerr, included instruction in implant dentistry and was held at the University of California, San Francisco. L MC Dental training sites were approved to increase residency positions for the program year beginning in July, 2014. The CODA approved increases were granted at the CODA 2013 winter meeting. Sites that were approved: Fifteenth Anniversary noted Successful CODA visits Dr. Anthony Caputo, DDS, MA, FACD, FICD, was named Senior Associate Director, Lutheran Medical Center, Department of Dental Medicine’s AEGD Program. The new dental residency program built on more than 20 years of dental experience offered by FHCN— which has six dental sites across multiple counties in their California region. A seventh site is scheduled to open in December. New sites approved by CODA • San Diego • Santa Barbara • Ventura • Visalia 18 • Marillac Clinic in Grand Junction, Colorado » Increased by 1 resident (for a total of 2) was appointed Dental Director along with staff dentist Dr. Rachel Dipasquale. • Dental facility at University of Hawaii, Maui College » An 18-chair dental health center is currently under construction, projected completion January, 2015. Ten of the 18 chairs with be reserved for The School of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting, with the remaining eight chairs to be used for patient care. Recruitment is underway for a dental director and a staff dentist with the goal of adding two new AEGD residents for July, 2016. • Honolulu Grants Approved • A grant of $118,000 was awarded to Kokua Kalihi Valley Health Center and the AEGD Residency Program by Hawaii Dental Service
