Orthodontics—gets initial positive
review from CODA
In September, 2014, the Commission
on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
conducted a pre-enrollment site visit
in Brooklyn, NY. The program will
begin in July, 2015, pending CODA
approval in February, 2015.
Dr. Laurance Jerrold joined LMC
Dental as Program Director of
Orthodontics early 2014. He is a
third-generation Diplomate of the
American Board of Orthodontics.
He received his dental degree
from New York University in 1975
and completed his orthodontic
training there in 1978. Dr. Jerrold
received his certificate in Bioethics
from Columbia in 1997. He then
served as the Program Director
for the orthodontic programs at
NYU, St. Barnabas Hospital in New
York, and Jacksonville University
in Florida. He has also served in
leadership positions in all facets of
organized dentistry. Dr. Jerrold is a
nationally recognized expert in the
fields of dental risk management
and ethics and has published and
presented over 300 papers and
presentations. He is also the section
Editor for Litigation, Legislation,
and Ethics in the American Journal
of Orthodontics and Dentofacial
Orthopedics.

Oral Pathology
LMC Dental’s Oral Pathology
Department’s “Case of the
Month” is an educational program
designed to showcase interesting
and unusual conditions of the
mouth and jawbones. Each month
a new case is posted. The resident
with the quickest diagnosis and/
or most intelligent differential is
acknowledged…and potentially
rewarded. The competition is open
to all current LMC Dental residents.
