ANIMIZE Magazine Volume 1 Issue 4 April 2016 | Page 19

This month ANIMIZE caught up with Deena and Dana from 2Scoops, the legendary, chart-topping, entirely fictional 90's R&B girl group.

ANIMIZE: Thanks for joining us today.

2Scoops: Hi ANIMIZE! Sorry we're L8. We are so happy to be here! Thank you for rolling out the red carpet treatment and giving us a chance to sit down and have a proper interview...usually we are just in the tabloids and gossip columns. This is a nice change. So, where do you keep the snacks?

Tell us about your journey from the rough streets NoBro to the top of the music charts.

As most of you know we grew up on the mean streets of NoBro, also know as North Bronx, also knows as Westchester. We grew up upper middle class...we didn't have much. Yeah we had a in-ground heated pool but there were always leaves in it. Sure, Xavier Roberts was our Godfather, sure we had all the Cabbage Patch Kids. We didn't have any of the Preemies! Life was rough. After winning a school talent show,(we were the only female contestants) we got offered a recording contract THAT DAY. From our first recording we shot to the middle of the charts and damn did we stay there. No amount of rehab or arson rehabilitation classes could keep us off the airwaves. And here we are today from the streets of NoBro to the stage at Joe's Pub. Keep reaching for the Middle, Scoopies!

You are such trail blazers, who are your biggest artistic influences?

Wow, we get asked this question all the time and the answer is...US. Ourselves. Stop asking.

You have such a passionate following, did the fans play a role in getting 2Scoops back together?

Listen. The Scoopies always came first, well, after us of course. Well...there are two of us so they come in 3rd but that's like still a medal in the Olympics. Even though we had been broken up and fighting we could not ignore all the fans emails, facebook comments, tweets and handwritten letters from our incarcerated fan base.
