Inspired Adventures does support the following experiences:
VISITS TO NATIONAL PARKS AND RESERVES TO VIEW WILD ANIMALS IN THEIR
NATURAL HABITAT
Inspired Adventures encourages travellers to view wild animals in their natural
habitats in a manner that ensures their welfare remains a priority. Human-initiated
contact with wild animals is strongly discouraged, as this can negatively impact the
animal’s health and welfare. Travellers are also advised not to feed wild animals, as
they can become dependant on unreliable food sources and become aggressive.
VISITS TO ANIMAL SHELTERS AND SANCTUARIES WHERE THE OBJECTIVE IS IN
THE ANIMAL’S BEST INTERESTS
A shelter is a facility that provides short-term care for rescued animals, while a
sanctuary provides lifelong or long-term care. The confinement of animals in these
facilities is accepted where high standards of care are provided and the objective is
in the animal’s best interests i.e. where an animal that has been rescued and would
not be able to survive in the wild. Travellers should be wary of commercial facilities
posing as sanctuaries. Sanctuaries are obligated to meet the physiological and
psychological needs of the animals under their care, and should not breed animals.
Inspired Adventures ensures that sanctuaries or shelters visited are genuine about
the conservation of animals.
