2017 Lowveld Bass Trail Round 2:

he passing weekend saw 44 teams
entering the 2nd tournament stop
of 2017 to test their angling skills
against nature and one another.
Although, with most of the field having
fished the first event and gained valuable
insight and pre-fishing knowledge, there
were mixed feelings about how the fishing
would have turned out.
A tough decision had to be taken in the
weeks leading up to the event to change
venues from the scheduled Driekoppies
back to Vygeboom dam which meant a first
ever Vygeboom back to back event.

Changing the venue
proved to be the
correct choice as a
total of 22 teams
filled their limit of 5
bass during the day.
The large amounts of rain and rising water
levels contributed massively to poor fishing
at all venues with Vygeboom dam being the
most stable dam of the lot.
Relatively cooler weather leading up to the
weekend and a full moon on the weekend
were sure indicators of some difficult fishing
ahead.

11 Teams (25%) however had to endure the
long hours without managing to put a fish in
the well.
