BETTIES BAY: NSRI treated the woman for head injuries, and with no ambulances immediately available, in a stable and satisfactory condition, was transported to hospital by NSRI for further treatment. Deon Langenhoven, NSRI Hermanus station commander, said: On Saturday, 15th April, NSRI Hermanus launched the sea rescue craft Jaytee III to assist 4 men, aged 63, 59, 29 and 28, on a 5 meter cabin boat, with motor mechanical failure, 100 meters off-shore of Stoney Point, Betties Bay and drifting shorewards. On arrival on the scene NSRI rigged a towline and the boat was towed to Kleinmond Harbour where their craft was recovered without incident. KREEFTE BAAI, LANGEBAAN: On Saturday morning, 15th April, NSRI Melkbosstrand off-duty crewman, Terence Lawson, while fishing at Kreefte Baai, was alerted to a commotion nearby, and on investigation, found a local man collapsed unconscious while fishing in amongst rocks. He was breathless and found to be pulseless. Terence initiated CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) efforts, assisted by friends and bystanders, and the alarm was raised. A doctor who happened to be nearby also assisted and SA Paramedic Services responded but sadly the man was declared deceased suspected to be from natural causes. His body has been taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and Police assisted the family and an inquest docket has been opened. PLETTENBERG BAY: LAMBERTS BAY: Marc Rodgers, NSRI Plettenberg Bay station commander, said: Christo Filander, NSRI Lamberts Bay station commander, said: On Saturday, 15th April, NSRI Lamberts Bay dispatched a sea rescue vehicle to assist at Yo-Yo’s Reef, Lamberts Bay, where a 28 year old woman, from Denmark, and now living in Noordhoek, Cape Town, suffered head injuries after reportedly being washed onto rocks while surfing. On Sunday afternoon, 16th April, NSRI Plettenberg Bay responded to Goose Valley, Plettenberg Bay, by the lagoon on the waters edge, where a 57 year old local man suffered a suspected Stroke (CVA – Cerebrovascular Accident). The man was treated by an NSRI doctor and NSRI medics and was transported to hospital by Medlife ambulance in a stable condition.
