2017
Round 1 of the 2017 Lowveld Bass Trail kicked off with a record attedance of 48 boats . A good increase over the 43 teams that attended the 2016 kick off event held at Kwena Dam .
with heavy rains experienced over the christmas holidays , water levels rose in a very short time frame and the anglers were faced with a lot of flooded grass . At the time of the competition the dam was 100 % full and with unpredictable weather , in the week leading up to the event , most of the anglers did not know where the fish would be located . Warm weather with blue bird skies met the anglers in the morning with partly cloud cover later the afternoon .
Fishing was extremely tough with 13 teams blanking and only 16 teams managing to find 5 fish for weigh-in . Compared to last year ’ s March event at Vygeboom where only 2 teams blanked .
