For more information, visit: www. australiangardenshowsydney.com.au THE Bicolano community in Sydney and around NSW have lined up activities for another successful celebration of the Penafrancia Fiesta on September 20. The Australian Devotees of Our Lady of Penafrancia (ADOLP), a prayer group based at the St Nicholas of Myra Parish in Penrith, will be holding Triduum services before the feast day. The first of three weekend services in honour of Ina (Mother) was held last August 30 at the Mary Immaculate Church in Quakers Hill. The next two services will be held on September 6 (11am) at the St. Patricks Cathedral in Parramatta and on September 13 (11am) at the St. Michael’s Church in Blacktown. Now on their 9th year, ADOLP expects an increase in the number of devotees and friends attending the fiesta. Last year, close to 400 people joined the celebration. The Replica of Ina which came from the Basilica of Penafrancia will stay at each parish for one week. Our Lady’s image is being dressed for the occasion every year thru the generosity of donors. This year’s dress of ‘Ina’ has been donated by Tito and Neria Soliman. On Fiesta day, the image of Our Lady of Pena francia will be brought back to her home at St Nicholas of Myra Church. The novena will start at 9am followed by concelebrated mass at 9:30am. After the mass, the Replica will be brought to “Tench Reserve” Factory Reserve Wharf (Jamison Road) by car procession for the fluvial procession across the Nepean River with the majestic Blue Mountains as background. This year’s theme is “Laity: Sent Forth with INA to Witness to Christ’s Gospel and Strengthen Communities of Faith”. This theme also marks the preparation of the Basilica de Naga for the 2015 “Year of the Poor”. The celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia is one of the biggest religious celebrations in the Philippines during September, attracting devotees from all over the country and abroad. ADOLP Inc. invites everyone on September 20 to the Penafrancia Feast and Fluvial Procession at Nepean River, Penrith.
