By Violi calvert JUNE Young responded to the request of Kate Andres, show producer to perform at Osang’s concert and help out by showcasing four of her students in the Dreamquest Singing Academy. June’s rendition of the classic Macarthur Park by Donna Summer and Alone by Heart drew praises. June who has toured with bands to various countries in the past is currently a music teacher raising a young family with her husband Patrick Young. They are proud parents to Trinity, 9, and Noah, 3. “Having young children can be a challenge so I try to stay away from guestings and other singing engagements. I have declined singing as front act to other amazing singers and celebrities shows here in Australia,” June said. June, 41, who hails from Leyte, says that she got her singing talent from her father who was a lead vocalist in a band during his younger years. June’s father encouraged her to take singing lessons. She enrolled in The Center for Pop Music, Philippines, and Ryan Cayabyab: The Music Studio. As well as singing lessons, her father also enrolled her in ballet, jazz and Hawaiian dance classes, piano lessons and even taught her how to play the guitar! She counts as highlights of her singing career the times she performs for a cause like the Osang Concert. Her unhappy experience as a singer was when she lost her voice just three months out of a supposed six-month contract in Tokyo.
