Coloma’s small collection of paintings, according to fellow local artist Alfredo ‘Ding’ Roces “revealed a refreshing dynamic and colourful blend of abstract and figurative”. THE International Artists League founded and headed by Coloma will showcase paintings, sculptures and art installations by top Filipino artists in an exhibition titled Philokalia, Our Legacy, at the Yuchengco Museum in Makati, Philippines on October 15-27, 2018. The exhibit will comprise works by national artist Ben Cabrera (BenCab), Alfredo Roces, Mon Coloma, Ross Capili, Bert Estanislao, Raul Isidro, Jay Maclean, Ramon Orlina, Rodolfo Samonte and Jun Velasco. It will be curated by Magnanimity Inc. "It has been my goal to showcase in different countries the good and beautiful, art created by esteemed artists,” Coloma said. “With the help of artist Ding Roces, I invited the best artists in the Philippines to participate in a group show and they all gave positive response. "We chose established artists with respectable reputation who have exhibited magnificent works and excelled in the field of art.” Roces, one of the senior Filipino-Australians involved in Philokalia, said: "This exhibition differs with regards to the mix between Filipino artists from Australia and the artists from the homeland. “It’s a bonding of Filipino artists from separate worlds: Australia, the USA, and the Philippines. “The show is reaching out to a brotherhood in art between three nations. “Aside from artists in Australia, artists from the Philippines are well represented; while Rodolfo Samonte, in turn, resides in the United States. “The artists from the Philippines are highly prominent ones, starting with national artist BenCab, and on to noted glass sculptor Ramon Orlina. "Hopefully, the show will reveal that despite artists coming from various generations with individual styles, and living in different parts of the this vast world, there is a Filipino spirit that breathes in their art “As for my own art, for this show I have chosen to exhibit mostly digital art on canvas to incorporate the new technology the artist now avails of." This collaboration of Filipino artists will be followed by more events, according to Coloma. "We are planning to have a major group exhibition here in Sydney,” he said. “I have started sounding off a select group of artists. “Our group, the International Artists League, is partnering with government and private institutions that can help us achieve this objective.
