DADS INVITED TO DANCE AT THE PRINCE'S INVICTUS GAMES
WHO said that dads couldn’t dance?
Watch out, because the Daddy Dance
Crew is about to show Australia that
fathers can move and groove too.
The newly-formed dance team will make
its stage debut before English royalty
- none other than Prince Harry ~ at the
coming Invictus Games which start in
Sydney on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
How did this happen?
A bunch of dads from Sydney were
hanging out at a coffee shop last August
and came across a YouTube dance video
from the UK of some old men grooving on
stage.
They were soon inspired by the idea and
decided to create a dance team. Daddy
Dance Crew was formed.
“I was sitting with my dance
choreographer friend Darrio Phillips and
we were watching some cool videos
online when we came across some dads
who auditioned on UK Got Talent,” recalls
Crew founder Marco Selorio.
“I thought maybe we can start dancing
and give it a go,”
The following week, they invited a few
friends to learn some hip- hop numbers
from Darrio, who happily obliged to teach
a bunch of dads some basic foundations.
A dance video was shot, and somehow
found its way to the Invictus Games event
organisers.
“We received an invitation to perform in

front of Prince Harry at the coming Invictus
Games,” Selorio said.
“What an honour. They must’ve liked our
dance concepts.
“To be honest, we are quite nervous but
we will go there to entertain everyone at
the Games.”

Two members are aged 62 and 65
respectively, while two others are over 40
years of age.
“We want to have fun because we love
music and dance,” Phillips said.
“You’re never too old to dance. By
forming a dance team, this is our way
to get fit, stay active and motivate each
other.”
The Invictus Games is an international
adaptive multi-sport event, created by
Prince Harry, where wounded, injured or
sick armed services personnel and their
associated veterans take part in sports
including wheelchair basketball, sitting
volleyball, and indoor rowing.
