Autumn season ends
AT PRESSTIME, the semi-finals of the South Sydney
Filipino Australian Basketball Association autumn
season were scheduled for Saturday, November 3,
2018 at Fairfield Youth and Community Centre.
Black Warriors were to play Red Hawks, and Blue
Eagles were to face White Thunder.
Winners were to play the final on Saturday,
November 10 at the same venue.
Last season’s wooden spooner White Team was a
surprise package.
It managed four wins, two losses and one draw
during the first seven regular games in the group
stage.

THE Filipino Press Fun Golf Challenge
has adopted the System 36 format for this
year’s one-day competition for a more
level playing field.
The competition will be played at
the usual Hudson Park golf course in
Strathfield NSW on Sunday, November
18, 2018, with tee-off time of 7:30am.
It will be sixth year of the annual
competition that began in 2013 as
organised by members of the Filipino
Press Group of Sydney.
Proceeds go to the ‘Fighting Fund’ of
the International Federation of Journalists
to assist families of journalists killed ‘in
action’ around the world, such as news
reporters murdered in the infamous
Ampatuan Massacre in Mindanao.

Enriquez wins Filcos fundraiser
PETE Enriquez of Holsworthy won the 2018 Filcos Fairfield fund-raising golf
tournament at Rosnay Golf Course on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
Enriquez scored 42 stableford points using his social handicap 32 to win by
countback.
He took home a trophy plus $450 cash prize and the privilege to engrave his name
in the perpetual shield. “Am just so happy to win as I seldom join the tournament
nowadays. Sorry that I had to leave early for family commitment” said Pete over the
phone when advised about his winning.
Grade winners with their stableford point scores and handicaps were: Jonathan
Parva (41/15) for A and Romy Morales (42/22 via CB) for B. These grade winners
were awarded a mini trophy and $200 cash prize each for their fantastic efforts.
Grade runners-up with their stableford point scores and handicaps were: Cris Abalos
(40/18) for A and Russel Gaerlan (39/20 for B. These grade runners-up were awarded
a medallion and $100 cash prize.
There were 46 supporters who played in this annual fundraising golf tournament
which is now on it’s seventh year, despite the inclement weather and the absence of
carts due to wet fairways.
