BLACKTOWN CITY FESTIVAL
Streets Alive
and Parade Day
The annual Blacktown City
Festival Streets Alive and
Parade Day is back this month
featuring 6 entertainment
precincts, a street parade, free
amusement rides and market
stalls.
The Streets Alive and Parade
Day takes place on May 27
starting at 9am at the CBD
area. The colourful showcase
concludes the Blacktown City
Festival which runs from May 20
to 27.
With plenty of attractions,
this day will not leave anyone
disappointed. This year there
will be a range of exciting
new additions, including an
opportunity to meet your favourite
Princesses and Superheroes
including Belle, Rapunzel,
Cinderella, Snow White, Batman,
Superman and Spiderman! Come
and grab a bite to eat in the Food
Truck and Dessert section on the
Village Green and skate around
the ice skating rink!
Commencing at 11.00am, a
vibrant parade will travel through
the streets of the CBD. It is a
spectacular display of colour
and excitement with roving
characters, floats and marching
bands.
Headlining the Streets Alive
and Parade Day will be the
Wiggles. Come and sing along
with Anthony, Emma, Lachy and
Simon as they perform all your
favourite wiggly hits. The Wiggles
will be on the main stage at
1.00pm.
Medieval Fayre
History will come alive at the
Nurragingy Reserve over two
spectacular days – May 20 and
21.
The Blacktown Medieval Fayre
features regal pageantry from the
past; Kings and Queens, Lords
and Ladies and Knights in full
armour.
Visitors will experience the
excitement of living history at its
best. Bring a picnic or purchase
your lunch and enjoy a great
family day out.
Nurragingy Reserve,
Blacktown City’s premier
recreational area, has been
transformed into a world of
medieval magic. For two whole
days, visitors will experience life
as the European ancestors lived.
You may bump into an
assortment of roving characters,
lurking within the medieval
village.Watch out for the 300 year
old bearded Elder and a real-life
Giant!
Jesters, scary hunchbacks,
an evil witch and a masked
executioner all live here too! You
might even see Robin Hood and
Friar Tuck!
Don’t miss the Birds of Prey
Show, Medieval displays, combat
artillery, handmade arts and
crafts, free camel and pony rides
and working Blacksmith Hut.
The International Jousting
Competition will once again be
the highlight of the 2017 event
with competitors from Australia,
USA and Germany all seeking to
claim the prestigious title.
Come along dressed in your
favourite medieval attire and
participate in the Best Dressed

APCO Charity Ball 2017
‘Harmony and Respect for a
Progressive Multicultural Society”.
This is the theme of the annual
APCO Freedom Charity Ball
celebrating the 119th anniversary
of the declaration of Philippine
independence.
This year’s event will be held at
Club Marconi, Bossley Park NSW
on the 10th of June from 6:30 pm till
12:00 pm.
In keeping with this year’s theme,
Filipino-Australians and artists from
diverse backgrounds will entertain
about 500 guests representing a cross
section of the Australian community,
representatives of the Philippines and
Australian government, corporate
sponsors and advertisers, APCO’s
project partners, media, friends and
supporters of APCO.
To showcase the uniqueness and
elegance of the Philippine national
costumes, a Filipiniana and Barong
Tagalog competition will again attract
men and women to vie for the best in
Classical and Modern Filipiniana and
Barong Tagalog, respectively.
A choice of $110 VIP ticket per
person or a $90 General Patronage
includes a sumptuous 3-course
dinner, a spectacular entertainment,
an opportunity to participate in the
Filipiniana and barong Tagalog
competition and lots of dancing.
Proceeds will go towards APCO’s
Humanitarian, Emergency and
Livelihood Program and delivery of
community development projects.
