Talented trio makes it into Miss Saigon Musical

Pac lets it go in The Project

Trinity Dawn Ilagan , Jayd Luna and Princess De Leon
Three talented West Sydney girls are now part of the new Miss Saigon Musical that ’ s set to launch on July 28-August 12 at the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta .
He surely can entertain . Manny Pacquiao appeared endearing to the hosts of Channel Ten ’ s The Project who looked amused about his singing .
“ I think you ’ ve given us a sneak peak in what your future career might be ,” said a smiling Carrie Bickmore when their segment with the Pacman showed a video of the boxer singing a bit off-key ‘ Let it go , let it go ..’
“ Nope , after that I stopped singing ,” Pacquiao answered quickly .
Another host asked if he would someday want to do a cover with an Australian artist – maybe AC / DC or Kylie Minogue .
The Project hosts look entertained with the boxer in the panel .
Pacquiao will face Australian Jeff Horn in a match in Brisbane in July .
It wasn ’ t pure entertainment though . Some question turned serious when Pacquiao was asked about his views on the alleged extra-judicial killings in the country . “ It ’ s an exaggeration by the media ,” Pacquiao said . Then the host dropped the question : “ Will you be president someday ?” To that , the Pacman took a moment to answer – “ haven ’ t thought about that .” Host Waleed Aly was quick to butt in telling Pacquiao –
“ you should be , you ’ re wearing a suit .”
Filipino-Australians Jayd Luna , Trinity Dawn Ilagan and Princess De Leon have been selected by Packemin Priductions to be a part of a huge ensemble cast .
Luna , 17 , from Quakers Hill , was a contestant on the X Factor last year . St Clair residents Ilagan , 17 ,
is a contemporary dancer while De Leon , 17 , is another accomplished singer who trained in classical music for over 10 years . All three are from the Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School .
The three close friends , influenced by a variety of genres from classical , jazz ,
pop , acoustic , a cappella and pop music , are excited at the prospect of working together for the very first time .
“ I love Miss Saigon because I ’ m a Leah Salonga fan . We all auditioned around the same time and got in . Our roles take us out of our comfort zone but as growing
performers its good for our experience and help develop our mindset if we want to break into the entertainment industry ,” said De Leon .
The three are among a significant number of Filipino- Australians who landed roles in the coming Miss Saigon production .
