COMMUNITY NEWS OBITUARIES NARCISO 'Chit' PIMENTEL was born in Intramuros, Manila on May 22, 1938, the son and third- born of the late Narciso Gonzales Pimentel jr and Mildred Kelly Pimentel. He died on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St George Hospital, Kogarah. Chit was educated at the Ateneo de Manila - grade school, high school, college - and played junior varsity basketball for the Blue Eaglets and senior varsity for the Blue Eagles. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree, and went on to work in sales for Gami Automotive, Channel 7 TV, Ace-Compton Advertising, and Scan Film Advertising before emigrating to Sydney, Australia, in 1972. In Sydney, he worked as night auditor of the Boulevard Hotel in East Sydney, then moved on to Fairfax Magazines as advertising manager until his retirement. Chit was an avid hi-fi enthusiast, and became a friend of the upcoming businessman - and eventually business owner - Dick Smith among many other executives in the electronics industry. He played the piano and electric organ by ear, and recorded some nostalgic Filipino and Spanish songs for family and friends. But he was more into classical music and had library collection of almost every classical piece of music. Good with his hand, Chit did a bit of serious carpentry, renovating the interior of a villa he owned in the Sydney suburb of Earlwood, where he and wife Cristina lived. He was an excellent writer. Over a period of three years some time ago, Chit wrote two books on thriller-fiction. But he didn't have them published for some reason.
