MACABUTAS NOTARY PUBLIC Ang Caviteño January 08, 15 & 22, 2018 DOH hoists Code White Alert over 3 regions for Quiapo Black Nazarene activities MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday placed on Code White Alert all DOH-retained hospitals and Centers for Health Development in Metro Manila, Region 3, and Region 4A until January 10, to prepare for any eventualities or health-related incidents that may occur during the observance of the Feast of the Black Nazarene and Traslacion 2018 event in Quiapo, Manila. A Code White Alert is declared when there is a mass gathering or national event and there is a possibility of emergency conditions that may need immediate medical attention as medical teams are on standby for immediate mobilization when needed. Code White Alert refers to the readiness of hospital manpower like general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists, and otorhinolaryngologists, to respond to any emergency situation. During Code White Alert, emergency service, nursing and administrative personnel residing at the hospital dormitory shall be placed on an on-call status for immediate mobilization. The Health Emergency Management Staff operations center will also be on 24-hour duty on the said dates to monitor any health- related events. Some 18.9 million devotees are expected to join 10-day Black Nazarene feast activities. (EPC/JCP/PIA-NCR) To address the lack of affordable housing arising the issues of informal settlers and the predicament on giving proper accommodations for the deprived member of the communities, the provincial government of Cavite thru the Provincial Housing Development and Management Office led by its Officer in Charge, Ma Karen Camañag-Tupas sponsored a seminar on Capacity Building on Community Mortgage Program on December 13, 2017 at The Bayleaf Hotel in General Trias , Cavite. The gathering was participated by housing envoys of different cities and municipalities in the province. During the program, the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) was explained and discussed by Mr. Will O. Peran while Engr John O. Lee tackled the technical process of the mortgage program. CMP is a financing scheme that enables informal settler associations to borrow for land purchase and housing development. Under E.O. 272, the SHFC shall be the lead government agency to undertake social housing programs that will cater to the formal and informal sectors in the low-income bracket and shall take charge of developing and administering social housing program schemes, particularly the CMP and the AKPF Program (amortization support program and development financing program). SHFC provides homeless, and low income families with flexible, affordable, innovative, and responsive (FAIR) shelter solutions to their housing needs. Also present during the event were Atty. DOH declares 68% decrease in fireworks- 69 years old. About 64% (123 cases) were active related injuries users and about 77% (148 cases) occurred in the MANILA-- The Department of Health (DOH) today declared a 68 percent decrease in fireworks- related injuries from 21 December 20 17 to 01 January 2018 compared to the same period of previous year. This is also 77 percent lower than the five-year (2012-2016) average. Total number of cases for the period now reach 191. There is no reported death, no case of fireworks ingestion and stray bullet injury. Majority of cases came from the National Capital Region (115 cases, 60%), followed by Western Visayas (15). Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Bicol Region all have 13 cases each. At the National Capital Region, Manila had the most (63 cases) number of cases, followed by Quezon City (14), Pasig City (11), and Valenzuela City (6). Piccolo remains as the top fireworks causing injuries (94, 49%), followed by kwitis (14, 7%), unknown firecrackers (12, 6%), fountain (10, 5%), and boga (9, 5%). Majority (160, 84%) of the cases were males. Age of cases ranged from 11 months to streets. Majority (162 cases, 85%) of the cases sustained blast injuries without amputation, 25 cases (13%) had eye injuries, while 7 (4%) had blast injuries with amputation. The top anatomical sites of injury are hand (115, 60%), eye (25, 13%), head (23, 12%), forearm/arm (20, 10%), legs (13, 7%), and chest (10, 5%). “Overall, the government’s campaign against fireworks has reduced the number of injuries. The DOH is grateful for the strong cooperation of our local government units and other government agencies for this success. We would also like to thank President Duterte for the passing of Executive Order No 28 which reinforced the efforts of the DOH and other concerned agencies such as the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, and EcoWaste Coalition, among others.” Health Secretary Francisco T.
