MMDA signs MOA with MPTC for faster
emergency response
MAKATI

Emergency
vehicles of the Metropolitan
Manila Development Authority
(MMDA) will be fitted with
Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) sticker tags for emergency
vehicles’ fast entry to major toll
plazas in the south and the north.

This as MMDA and
the Metro Pacific Tollways
Corporation (MPTC) on Friday
signed a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) for the
installation of RFID sticker tags to
100 government and emergency
vehicles that pass through major
toll roads managed and operated
by the MPTC.

Under the partnership,
the MPTC will attach RFID
sticker tags to emergency vehicles
bearing an initial load of P500.

DSWD, GT Foundation, Metrobank Foundation to
give Bags of Blessings to 10,000 poor families

The
Department of Social Welfare
and Development (DSWD)
signed on Friday a memorandum
of agreement (MOA) with GT
Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) and
Metrobank Foundation, Inc.,
for the 2018 Bags of Blessings
(BOB) Project.

Every
year,
GT
Foundation
and
Metrobank
Foundation, partner with the
DSWD for their yearly gift-
giving activity, a tradition set by
the said institutions in celebration
of the Chinese New Year.

The BOB Project for
2018 will benefit 10,000 poor
families nationwide, with the
majority of the beneficiaries
selected
from
DSWD’s
Listahanan, a database of poor
families. The Bags of Blessings
which amounts to P1,000 per
bag is given to families who
live below the poverty line,

After a series of suspensions of
the Barangay and SK elections
due to unresolved issues, the
elections are set to proceed on
May 14, 2018.

The decision was based
on
COMELEC
Resolution
No. 10246 that prescribed a
new calendar of activities and
periods of prohibited acts in
connection with the May 14,
2018 synchronized Barangay
and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)
Elections.

A total of 829 barangays
in the province of Cavite gears up
with preparations and trainings
to ensure peaceful, orderly
and clean elections including
the members of the Task
Force on Youth Development
(TFYD) in accordance with the
Department of Interior and Local
Government’s mandate.

Certificates
of
Candidacy (COC) will start on
April 14 until April 20 with
election period set from April 14
to May 21.

A nine-day campaign
period is fixed from May 4 to May
12 but campaigning is prohibited
on the eve of Election Day, May
13.

Acts prohibited during
the campaign period include:
making any donation or gift
in cash or kind; appointing
or using special policemen or
confidential agents; construction
or maintenance of barangay
funded roads and bridges;
appointment or hiring of new
employees, creation of new
position, promotion, giving of
salary increases, remuneration or
privileges.

Likewise, during the
election period the Commission
prohibits the alteration of
precincts or establishment of new
precincts; carrying of firearms
or other deadly weapons; use of
security personnel or bodyguards
by candidates; transfer of officers
and employees in the civil
service; and suspension of any
elective local officer.

On election day, casting
of votes in polling precincts will
be from 7:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M.

Luck in the Year of the Dog
In its effort to establish quality education among Caviteno students, Governor Boying Remulla handed over to the principals and
teachers of public elementary and high school seventy five computer units which were donated by the Republic of Korea’s Jeollabuk-
do Office of Education on February 12, 2018 at the provincial capitol grounds in Trece Martires City. Jaellabuk-do has an extensive
collaboration with the provincial government in terms of providing computer equipments and enhancing the awareness and proficiency
of teachers on the latest innovation on information technology. Last year, they have provided one hundred units of computers to
public schools and the Cavite Computer Center. A total of 1,241 computer units were distributed to different public schools in the
province since their partnership 13 years ago and almost 200 teachers were trained in Jaellabuk-do, Korea since 2005. Meanwhile,
Governor Boying also distributed 25 motorcycle patrol vehicles to various municipalities to ensure the safety of his constituents and
immediately act or respond on emergency situations. Nine motorcycle patrols were donated to Maragondon, six in Alfonso, five in Naic,
and two in Mendez. The municipalities of Magallanes, Ternate and General Emilio Aguinaldo also received one motorcycle patrol
