DOH launches 'Train Wrap' campaign to boost
health awareness
vaccines.
MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH)
has launched “Train Wrap” in LRT Line 2 that
contains postings of health reminders and tips
for its passengers.
According to Health Secretary Francisco
Duque III, the move would help inform LRT’s
millions of passengers and the public in general
about the importance of their health.
“This is a very good medium by which
we can bring to the consciousness of the riding
public and the public in general. This is an
important public health campaign of the DOH
and in view of bringing health closer to our
people,” Duque said.
Posted inside and outside of the LRT train
coaches is the information about the programs of
DOH.
Inside the train are the various health tips
like the proper washing of hands, covering of
nose and mouth when coughing, the benefits of
blood donation, and the agency’s immunization
programs including information on anti-dengue
The DOH Train Wrap is the first ever
program of the agency in coordination with the
LRTA that pushes for health innovation using
technology to reach ordinary Filipinos.
Meanwhile, Director Mar Wynn Bello,
chief of the Agency’s Health Promotions and
Communication Services said the program is a
good way to inform Filipinos who are busy on
a daily basis and seem to forget about various
health information.
“If we intensify this program to reveal
information about health, at least, 50%-80% of
public health is done. We need to prevent the
occurrence of disease or ailments because as we
all know an ounce of prevention is worth than a
pound of cure,” Bello said.
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2
cater to more than 200,000 passengers on a daily
basis and it grows even bigger every day. These
trains are plying the routes from C.M. Recto
to Santolan, Marikina. (DOH/EPC/LFB/PIA-
