Two-time and back-to-back Top Sportsman Champion Jason Stares had a troubled run to his second title, but it couldn’t hold
him back.
The grand fi nal of the championship saw Stares back at the wheel for the fi rst time since an accident in late 2016.
Stares was working at home on a boat when it rolled over him and pinned him to the ground. In shock and unable to move,
Stares called for help and thankfully a neighbour who lived some 100 meters away heard the calls for help and ran to his aid.
Fortunately, thanks to a strong start to the season and an impressive comeback at the Grand Finals, Stares was able to
clinch the title despite missing out on the Australian Nationals event while he recovered.
