teen workshops June 10 - 14 July 8 - 12 t-shirts and posters Jason Schneider Screen Printing for Teens: musically inspired Johanna Mueller Ages: 13 to 17 / 10 am - 4 pm Tuition: $575  / Studio Fee: $75 Code: R0202 Enrollment Limit: 10 SKILL LEVEL: Open to all CONCEPT: Rock and roll wouldn’t be the same without the images it has inspired over time. This class creates screen printed posters and t-shirts in the style of classic rock band memorabilia. We learn compositional skills to design images and use squeegees to print ink through a screen onto fabric or paper. Johanna demonstrates how to register multiple colors, compose graphic designs and practice printmaking skills. Fun for all with lots of finished posters and t-shirts by the end of the week! MEDIA & TECHNIQUES:  Water-based screen printing techniques with tools, paper and fabric. ACTIVITIES: Each day, students design and print in selected media, building up from single-color formats to more complex, multi-color prints. Some casual discussions and critiques, with emphasis on active work and experimentation with screen printing methods. FACULTY: Johanna Mueller is a previous artist-in-residence and the current studio coordinator of painting and printmaking at Anderson Ranch. She holds an MFA in printmaking from George Mason University. She is represented by Gildar Gallery and Gallery Leon in Denver and the Croft Gallery in Waco, Texas. Her work is featured in private and public collections worldwide.   www.johannamuellerprints.com Design Your Deck: skateboard creations Ages: 13 to 17 / 10 am - 4 pm Tuition: $575  / Studio Fee: $75 Code: W0608 Enrollment Limit: 10 SKILL LEVEL: Open to all CONCEPT: Ollie into this workshop and make a major statement the next time you ride! This experience is for skateboard enthusiasts of all types who want to add that unique edge to their boards. We begin by looking at skateboard designs and then transfer our own ideas with special paint onto our own decks. After adding wheels, grip tape and final assembly, we road test our one-of-a-kind creations. MEDIA & TECHNIQUES:  Plywood, glue, paint, griptape and stickers. We design and build our own skateboard deck. We first glue up the deck, cut the shape on the bandsaw, profile the edges, sand, finish and ride! Trucks and wheels not included. ACTIVITIES:  While we watch skate movies playing in the background, we discuss totally awesome skateboard decks and the importance of helmets. FACULTY:  Jason Schneider received his MFA in Furniture Design from San Diego State University in 2004. He has lectured at many colleges and woodworking clubs throughout the country. His work has been featured in woodworking books and magazines and exhibited nationally.
