Join us as we explore the wild world of characters created by amazing children’s author and
illustrator, Eric Carle. Spend the week celebrating classic books like “The Hungry Caterpillar,”
“The Grouchy Ladybug” and many more! What
makes Eric Carle’s characters so very special?
How can we mimic his legendary artistic style
to create books of our own? We explore these
questions as we craft whimsical, one-of-a-kind
characters and story books. We sketch and
paint a giant rendition of our creation, then work
on developing a unique, 3-D version. Our final
task is to write a mini story, chock-full of funny
details about our newfound characters.
For three years in a row, Anderson Ranch has
won “Best Children’s Float” in Aspen’s Fourth
of July parade. Lend your creativity and skills
to help us remain champions! We begin by
developing a theme and then spend the week
painting, gluing and decorating props to turn
the official Anderson Ranch truck into a masterpiece. We top it all off by creating costumes
for students to wear while walking alongside
the float in the parade on Thursday, July 4th.
