SKILL LEVEL: II - III
SKILL LEVEL: II - III
CONCEPT: This workshop explores the narrative quality of the photograph evoked through
individual images, sequences and series. We
examine different strategies in portraiture for
transcending the traditional portrait, revealing
something deeper or more meaningful about
our subjects. Layers of meaning can be consciously imbued or signified through the environment, a sense of narrative, or a conceptual
premise. We discuss narrative in terms of the
single image and as a series. Because lighting
is also a psychological component to imagery,
we experiment with both natural light and professional strobe lighting on location. Expect to
leave this class with the seeds or, perhaps, the
beginning of a narrative project of your own.
CONCEPT: Being a photographer means more
than making stunning single images. If we photograph everything the eye desires the intent
of our communication can become diluted.
Defining focus is a sure way to build a pathway
to a unique, individual vision. In this workshop,
Arno and Jonathan help us identify and build
the conceptual and visual strengths necessary
to create a unique, sustainable artistic direction. Expect dramatic improvements to your
digital printmaking skills as you work directly
with master printer Jonathan Singer to design
an optimal creative digital workflow suited to
your own working style, strategies and goals.
