Joroen Verhoeven, Finnish birch  San Giorgio and Gondolas, Venice, Italy July 28 - 29 October 9 - 15 Contemporary Dutch Design Barbara Bloemink  1 - 4 pm Skill Level: Open to all   For the last decade, Dutch design has proven to be the most innovative, multidisciplinary and visible part of the global design explosion. In furniture, tableware, fashion, lighting, textiles, new media and, particularly, sustainable green design, the Dutch have altered our perceptions and definitions of what design can be. Contemporary Dutch design is dynamic, conceptual, experimental, and often plays on the tension between design and art. Two significant designers, Joris Laarman and Max Lipsey, from the Netherlands will explore the impact of Dutch design today and how it reflects contemporary issues and ideas. Faculty:  Barbara Bloemink is the Executive Director of Anderson Ranch. Previously she was the Director and/or Chief Curator of five US Art Museums. She has organized over 60 museum exhibitions, written eight books on art and art history, and lectured internationally on contemporary art. She received a PhD and MA from Yale, an MA from NYU, and her BA from Stanford University. 54th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition Barbara Bloemink Skill Level: Open to all   The Venice Biennale of Art boasts national and international exhibitions of contemporary art.
